I purchased the solar panel to charge the batteries on my travel trailer. The plastic connector box on the back of the unit was debonded when I received the unit. The vender gave me a choice of returning it or gluing it back on myself for a partial refund (twice the shipping cost). I purchased some silicone adhesive and successfully glued it back on. The HQRP 10 amp controller was also purchased. Special MC4 connectors are required to connect to the panel. I purchased a 30 ft MC4 extension cable from another vender which I cut in half. This provided enough wire to connect from the trailer roof to the controller and then to the battery. The controller would not accept the Number 10 wire, so I had to break off three strands to make it fit into the connector. I also purchased 4 brackets to mount the panel to the trailer roof. The unit was sufficient to make my trailer batteries last for a week while camping at Lake Tahoe. The controller showed charging current as soon as it was light in the morning until dark.

Worked perfect! I like the LCD readout telling you the voltage, amperage, battery temperature, and much more. Charged 10 deep cycle batteries to proper 14.0 charging volts, and floated at 13.6 as industry standard, then back again. Could not ask for a better unit.

I purchased a second one for the second solar array of 5 panels I purchased. See my video here for installation instructions.

Only needs a flat blade screw driver to install. Back off the screws, insert wires, then tighten. All you have to do is follow the icons on the front to see where to place the wires. Shows + and - terminals on the icons.

One solar panel input, one battery output, and a optional diversion load output for when the batteries are full and you want to make good use of the unused electrical power.

Morningstar SL-10L-12V SunLight 10 Amp Charge Controller LVD Review

I have been using this device, purchased elsewhere for about 2 weeks. My setup is an 85w pv panel, the morningstar controller, car battery, and a total of about 40w of LED 12v landscaping lights (10 total). The charger works great, timer is very clever, device packaging is brilliant.

My only complaint about the device is the set point for low voltage cutoff. Most battery specs describe the amount of storable charge in a battery between full charge, usually 12.8 v and a point below which one should not discharge the battery, usually 10.5 volts. The Morningstar charger automatically disconnects at 11.7v...leaving "uneaten food at the table", and requiring that you oversize the battery.

I would definitely purchase this again.

I don't know if they were just clearing their inventory to unsuspecting buyers or what. They actually have a monocrystalline 40 watt panel whereas before, the 40 watt was only a polycrystalline. I am not sure what you will get if you plan to buy this. Good luck to you.

Just as another reviewer had said, the panels are NOT MONOcrystalline but POLYcrystalline instead. The picture shown is a monocrystalline panel. The Aleko energy website shows the panels you will get if you order this particular item. If you go to alekogreenenergy.com and search for the 40 watt 12 volt poly crystalline panel, you will see the type of panel you receive if you purchase this item. I'm sadly disappointed in this purchase and failure of description.

However, with that said, quality was not bad, and there was no damage on arrival. The panels work, however I did not get a chance to test out the full capacity of the panel and compare them to the specifications. I did not bother to after I realized that I did not get what I wanted.

Only buy if POLYcrystalline 40 watt panels are what you want.

Reliance Controls THP221 Digital Entry Security Alarm or Chime for Doors and Windows Home Security Products Review

I was looking for a wired alarm that would work on my new sliding door. The Radio Shack alarms I normally use wouldn't work on it because they aren't wired. I bought a different wired alarm at the local home improvement store and the first was defective, so I got another one and gave it a second chance. The other alarm seemed to work great until the next day when it completely died. Needless to say I couldn't trust that alarm so I started searching for another.

I was skeptical at buying this Reliance alarm because it had no reviews, which is usually what I look at to help me make decisions. But, I couldn't find anything else that would work for me that actually had the keypad like this does. I have keypads on my other alarms, and wanted to use the same code, which I couldn't with a four button (1,2,3,4) alarm. I am glad I found his alarm, especially for such a low price. It has features that the others don't have. One nice feature is that you can trim the excess length off of the alarm wire. The wire is 3-4' long, and can easily be trimmed to whatever length you need, or can be looped and used as is.

The alarm lets you choose from I believe 3 different alarm modes. The first two were delayed alarms, for when you are out of the house. The other alarm option is instant, which is what I needed. There is also a chime mode so you know when the door is being used (haven't tried this option yet). The alarm doesn't give false alarms; it seems to take an inch or so of clearance between the two sensors to make it go off. I have tested the alarm many, many times to make sure it works like an alarm should (I have a little one that has figured out how to unlock and open doors). The only thing that is a little different with this alarm is that it beeps 3 times to tell you the alarm is being activated, and then it beeps again after 60 seconds telling you it is now armed. Then when you disarm it just beeps once.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I've only had it for a few months, but it has never disappointed (even with extensive testing). This is a very loud alarm for a battery operated unit. It gives me peace of mind with my 2 year old. I will definitely hear it when it goes off. I trust this alarm, which is what matters most. And for the price I feel that it is a steal.
