Product Description
Tired of all the noise and smell from your diesel generator? The Instapark SP-180W solar panel offers you a quiet, clean while carbon-free alternative. Capable of converting virtually unlimited solar energy into clean, green, most importantly, free electricity, this solar panel is made of high efficiency mono-crystalline solar cells embedded in transparent vinyl acetate behind tempered glass with heavy back sheet ensuring maintenance free performance. Unlike amorphous solar panels, which only last about 5-7 years of continuous use, mono-crystalline solar panels can still retain over 80% of efficiency even after 25 years of continuous use. Also, the mono-crystalline panels are much more efficient and thus smaller in size while producing higher wattage.
This solar panel is designed and engineered to primarily charge 24-Volt batteries, which store and provide usable power when needed, ideal for powering your RVs, ATV, marine boats and electronic equipments. Other than recreational applications, solar power can also help lower your energy bills by reducing your dependence on the main electrical grid and provide back-up power during power outages.
All Instapark solar panels have a 5-year limited product warranty that covers its Photovoltaic modules to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal application, installation, use and service conditions, and a power warranty that guarantees a power output greater than 80% of the minimum peak power as specified within 25 years from the date of delivery. If the PV modules fail to conform to these warranties, then Instapark will, at its sole discretion, either repair or replace the product.
Instapark® NEW 180W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel, 180 watt Review
I've been using 3 of these as my primary power source for about 8 months now in Oregon. They were damn near worthless during the winter (as expected), but provide plenty of power during the summer. I use a TriStar 60amp MPPT, but the 45amp model would of been enough.
In early May I'm seeing 200 to 300 watts incoming power from them.
These panels use MC4 connectors which makes wiring them simple. I ran mine in parallel using HQRP Pair MC4 T-branch Solar Panel Connector M/M/F & F/F/M (1F2M & 2F1M) for PV / Photovoltaic System plus HQRP Coaster
Two panels run into one joiner. Then that connector, plus the third panel, run into the second joiner.
The final joiners then are connected this cable: Tektrum 12ft Long PV Extension Cable with MC4 M/F Connectors for Outdoor Solar Panel (Set of 2)
That cable runs to my charge controller which has very short cables I made with HQRP Pair MC4 Solar Panel Connector male & female (M&F) for PV / Photovoltaic System plus HQRP Coaster.
If I could do it all over again, I'd of not use the pre-built MC4 cables. They're 12AWG with no mention of material (copper? aluminum? It matters!). I'd rather make an exact fit cable using the crimp on connectors and 8AWG copper wire from Home Depot. Much cheaper and higher quality!
To note, 12AWG _should be_ fine, but I'd rather have optimal. Solar panels generally output higher voltage and lower amperage. The Voc is 44.64volts, the Ios is 5.25amps. 3 in parallel gets you 44.64volts and an Ios of 15.75amps.
12 feet of 12AWG aluminum carrying that current gets 2.13% voltage drop. 12 feet or 8AWG copper gets 0.54%.
