I bought this plug and play generator for emergency. It arrived in two seperate orders. No problem because the dealer e-mailed me to let me know before hand. It charges up well in the sun. About the same amount of time it took charging on ac current plugged in. I thought I would be able to charge other battery operated items such as rechargabe flashlight, tools ect...But you can't. It clearly states in the instruction manual that there are alot of things(battery operated) that you can't charge with this generator.And you can't leave it out in the rain. Again it clearly states that in the instruction manual.

Whats it good for? Lights. It will run several plug in house lamps for close to 40 hours. I know I tried it out. You can plug in your lap top but it will drain the power (recharging the lap top) in about 7hours.It's good to keep the lights on.

I will purchase a bigger unit come this fall to run a coffee maker small t.v ect...
I would say its good to have even if you can only use it for your lights. Beats using candles.
