First of all it seems several conflicting reports of the unit not able to power up a 13,500 btu AC unit. the manual that comes with the unit is fair at best on information about how to do it. A great Utube clip from one of the RV Dealers who sells this unit and the Honda 3000. It gave me the knowlege needed. Some people say they have to buy a hard start capaciter to give the unit an extra kick that may be true for the older an I mean older models. We were able start up a 2001 Coleman 13,500 btu unit. It goes like this. You must buy a generator 30 amp adaptor camco makes one for around $13.00. the unit comes with two twenty amp and one thirty amp. Turn the fridge to gas only.
Turn the two switches to off on the generator that will transfer your power to the one thirty. Turn on the Dometic 3000 the key start is wonderful. allow it to warm up for a couple of minutes and then turn the eco mode off and allow it to rev up. Plug in the 30 amp adaptor with your trailer RV cord. Turn on the fan of the AC allow to go the turn on the AC unit. The Domitic will growl for a minute then will become stable. You can then use some lights but I would advise that do not use the water pump if you are out in the sticks with onboard water only that could throw the unit into overload. Okay Just a bit more information This unit is a true 80 pounds take my word. It has a 150 cc engine the Honda has a 190 to 200 cc depending the model and year it was made. The Honda EU 2000 is under 100cc and will never begin to run an AC. I was Able to power my Fridge, Elelctric Coffee Pot and a 1500 watt electric frying pan. this is the power I need and was happy to pay the price for it. It is quiet and smooth running I have been out of three camp trips and it is wonderful. The reason why I did not give it a five star rating is one guy mentioned the micky mouse handle that is set up to pull on wheels it will break off and not lock in place I had to drill two holes and put in a couple of pins. Checking the oil is a pain put they supply the tools to do it. One person called it china junk I remember when we called Japan junk. The name Dometic has been around for over 40 years in the trailer fridge and Ac units I believe that they set the quality control and where it is make must meet it yeah the handle is a great idea but is junk on the locking part. finally I spent hours studing this unit before buying it. You will only find it at camping trailer RV places because of the name. I found the unit at one as high as $1099.00 Ouch! and as low as $500.00. Be patient if you want one at the lower prices My sorce must have bought a bunch of them to get it below that $600.00 mark he is out at this time but has the best darn price and a AAA service for shipping out. I can not afford a Honda 3000 or the blue guy at $2100.00. This works fine for my needs do not expect it to preform like a Honda 3000 it can not due to the size of the engines the Honda is well over 100 pounds and requires two people to move it.
