I purchased this inexpensive non-contact voltage detector from a local hardware store for the exact same price as listed here and it works perfectly fine for me. I just use it to double check that I turned off the right breaker switch when installing light fixtures and such in our new home. It is sensitive enough to detect the hot wire in a 110v outlet without being pushed all the way in to the receptacle yet does not go off when brushed up against the ground or neutral holes. It easily detects a switch that is on when moved to within � inch of the switch. No problems with the battery cover coming off on mine. Can't complain for the price.
