2pcs 100W Monocrystalline Solar Panels UL Listed Off Grid 12 Volt 12V RV Boat USA Solar Cells Review

I purchased two of these 100 watt Renogy panels from Amazon almost a week ago. The price per watt, including the free shipping, came to about $1.65 per watt. The panels arrived here two days ago. They were amazingly small and lightweight for their rated capacity (100 watts apiece), and my tests show that they easily meet their ratings. The design and construction of these panels appears to be very high quality, and I have nothing but praise for these panels!

My location is relatively shaded, which means that any and all of my solar panels experiences some degree of shade and shadowing throughout the day, and my location is also subject to blocking of early AM sun and late PM sun from nearby mountain ridges to the east and to the west, and the two days since I installed the panels have been quite dark and overcast, and yet the panels have nonetheless consistently put out more power than I would have expected under those conditions (I am an engineer; I know what I am talking about, and I have the equipment here to measure the power levels accurately), and, in fact, these two 100 watt panels put out significantly more power under such conditions than any of my other 200 watt banks of panels. This makes sense to me, for monocrystalline panels (such as these Renogy 100 watt panels) tend to do better under marginal low-light conditions than do polycrystalline panels or amporphous panels.

I am very happy with these panels. In fact, I will shortly be ordering another pair of these panels!

The wind generator actually works well. The instructions are a bit fuzzy, for example, "the straight edge of the blade should be to the right when fixed to the hub." Sure it sounds simple enough, but what if you are on the left of the hub? The blades are not straight, they are contoured, so what the hell? I just put it together like I designed it and it has worked fine. I'm guess just a common sense approach to the assembly works best.

The charge controller also clicks. I had to contact customer service to confirm this, but a note in the instructions would have been nice to quell my fears of burning the house down when my wife called me to say the controller was clicking.

All in all it is a good product. The last tip is to be sure you're able to mount the turbine high enough to make it worth your while. If you can get it 40 plus feet you should be fine.

Have had this flexible solar panel for just a few days so far. This panel has grommets along the edges for easy mounting, I used rubber tarp straps to mount this to a 100 gallon cylindrical fuel tank. It charges the deep cycle battery that runs the pump that was already in place. I used to put the battery on a charger every night the pump was used, with the solar charge is not necessary, is virtually maintenance free now. I bought a square framed panel first, did not take long to figure out this was going to be a nightmare getting a square panel mounted to a round tank. With this flex style do not have to worry about rocks and gravel kicking up on the panel either. This is a perfect solution, looks to be well made, hopefully I will get many years of use out of it too.

Generac 6180 750 Watt Portable Power Inverter Review

I gave this product a 3 star for two reasons,but first let me state that as a Licensed residential/commercial/industrial Electrician I've come to know Generac for high quality after installing their generators.

Now onto what I did not like about this product.

I connected it to my solar battery bank a medium sized bank with PLENTY of amp hours @12vdc) and powered it on after reading the manual, and decided to gradually stress test it... all went well as i added a heavier and heavier load to it and 2 annoying things became apparent. Now mind you BOTH of these issues involve low amp draw items... One is a 60 watt incandescent replacement LED bulb made by Cree, draws .07 amps at 120v. The light flickers at random intervals, tested with another brand of LED light, same thing. Tested with an incandescent bulb 60 watt, same thing.

2nd issue, a power transformer plugged into the 120vac outlet and then plugged into a 7" 12vdc powered HD TV causes inverter to make a slight clicking sound... cannot figure out why. Amp draw .7 amps @ 120vac... I realized these are light loads,but when i plugged in an iMac G3 (all in one pc) it had no problem supplying power and not a stutter from any of the lights. I then plugged in a coffee maker after killing power to everything else and the Generac inverter handled it just fine and the fan turned on and off under heavy load as it should.

I've a 400 watt inverter by another company and under the light loads of TV and LED lights there is no flicker at random times like the Generac. Overall a good product and in a pinch I am sure it will be better than no power when commercial power is non-existant.
