I used Ortho crabgrass killer last year for the crabgrass problem that I am in some "hotter" and drier areas of my lawn. It absolutely destroyed my Kentucky Bluegrass / Fine Fescue lawn. Looking back in retrospect, I applied much too much of the herbicide in a small area. Lesson learned.

I did not use Scott's Starter Fertilizer with Crabgrass Control this spring because I had just planted some grass. Because of this, this year's crabgrass problem was worse than ever. It got to the point where is was so dense that I did not care if it killed my lawn..... I just wanted to clear things out so that I could get a good fall reseeding underway.

I took a different approach with a different product and actually READ THE DIRECTIONS. I applied it very sparingly this time around and it worked as advertised. I went back and forth very quickly about a total of 3 "passes" over each area. It turned the crabgrass yellow in about 24 hours and my lawn has survived. I am not sure if the difference is because I used this product correctly or if it is actually superior to the Ortho product. What I DO know is that this one works.

I obtained this from a big box store for abour $9.50 plus tax. I would not want to pay $16 or more for the same product unless I had to travel a great distance to find a store that sold this. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will be happy to answer them.
