DuroStar DS4000S-WK Wheel Kit for DS4000S Review

First, a few disclosures: I am female. I installed this by myself. My mechanical skills, on a 1 - 5 scale are about a 3. It took me about 30 minutes.

Packaging/contents: The outside box that Amazon shipped in was very sturdy. The inside box was NOT, so I can understand how some people have indicated that there was packaging damage. All of my parts arrived.

Instructions: Piss poor. Don't bother. The instructions are absolutely horrid, as they are in the original owner's manual for the 4000DS generator itself. Much work is needed here. The pictures are taken from a very poor angle and are too up close. The pictures are also very dark, so you really can't see what you're looking at other than fingers. Finally, there are no labels for the parts shown, just a generic photo of all of them lumped together. You will need to figure out which parts are which. This is not extremely difficult, as I used a process of elimination and figured out the bolts simply by counting the parts. Here's what you will need to do: 1. Use a little common sense and look carefully where all the holes are before starting. (A couple of reviewers mentioned having to drill holes and I note that I did not need to do this; all of the holes were located properly. Also note that I purchased the generator itself from another online retailer.)2. Do an internet search to find a photo of the generator with the wheel kit ALREADY installed. That way, you can see where the wheels and handle are located before starting. A couple of reviews mentioned problems getting the axle over the rubber feet in order to mount the wheels. You DO NOT need to take the rubber feet off! The axle & wheels go on just fine with a clamp or a little elbow grease!

Quality of parts: The parts are high quality--the metal is not going to bend at all. The bolts and nuts left something to be desires. I don't know how they made these threads on the nuts in China, but they don't go on very smoothly.

Overall comment: I docked the review for the nuts and poor instructions. Overall, I am glad I purchased the kit, as it makes moving a 90 pound generator easy as cake. Anyone who has the generator should purchase this. The price was reasonable. If you're trying to make a buying decision, I say go for it.
