Sunforce 37085 85W Crystalline Solar Panel Review

I bought one of these panels and the voltage was too low to adequately charge my RV batteries, even according to the indicators on the Sunforce charge controller I bought with it. Open circuit was at 14.1 volts for a panel just brought out from the cool indoors and it dropped down to 13.1 as the panel heated up in the sun.

I contacted the manufacturer and they agreed that the voltage was too low and should be at least 15V so I got a replacement panel from Amazon. The replacement panel exhibited the same problem. I contacted Sunforce again and provided them photos of my voltmeter as well as video of the voltage dropping as the panel heated up.

I had to send the first panel back to Amazon to avoid being charged for the replacement. Sunforce wanted me to send the second panel directly back to them and provided shipping information. I wrote back to verify that they were going to send me a known-good and tested panel from their stock because I was tired of packing and shipping panels around. After two weeks, I never heard back. So I sent the second panel back to Amazon for a refund and I'm all done with Sunforce.

I'm now ready to purchase a different brand of panel (150w for this one at a lower price!) and I've already received verification from them that the voltage should be around 18v.
